Why Haiti?
Maybe you remember seeing Haiti on the TV during the 2010 earthquake that devastated the country.
Perhaps you or a family member went on some kind of trip to Haiti over the years.
What we can tell you is this: Haiti is more than what meets the eye. We believe God has been at work in Haiti long before any outsider came in to help.
We believe that Haitians are equipped to help their communities heal and thrive.
And, we believe loving your neighbor looks like true, holistic community development, linking arms with Haitians and foreigners alike.
Together we heal, together we thrive.
Haiti liberated themselves from slavery in 1804.
Haiti is full of resilient, problem-solving people who have been largely left out of the global economy since their inception as a republic. This being “left out” did not stop with that. As Haiti has had millions of missionaries, non-profits, and outside help, many local leaders continue to be left out of many conversations. When we view people receiving help as objects instead of subjects, we can treat them as such. We don’t want to see that happen.
We believe that there is so much good happening in Haiti. Plainly put, we believe that the best way for this transformation to happen in Haiti is via grassroots, localized movements by local people. Because of this, we started Konbit Haiti.
We invite you to join us as we link arms with these on-the-ground people, joining as a part of a story greater than just one person, the story of Konbit Haiti.
We truly believe in harnessing the skills, power, and love of multiple nations to see Haiti heal and thrive.
