GIVE THE GIFT OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER

W.A.S.H.

Low-Tech Solutions for Long-Term Impact

  • Rain Catchment Tanks

A rain-catchment tank is great for places with a rainy season. In the mountain communities where we work to help people gain access to clean drinking water, this technology is simple, effective, and free. All materials come from within the country and it its easy to maintain.

  • Latrines

Latrines are an important part of protecting the environment. By building proper latrines with protection around the waste area, precious ground water is protected and able to be used for drinking water when pumped through a well.

  • Filtration

In emergency situations, we are prepared with water filters and buckets to make the lives of people who are facing difficulty a bit easier. Additionally, in some circumstances these filers turn into a bio-sand filter which is a low-tech solution, as well.

  • Hands On Training

Every project starts with a seminar or training. Each community learns about the different technologies communities can use to protect and grow their resources as it pertains to water and sanitation. Then, communities decide which project is best for them. One of our qualified directors teaches and leads the project with tons of hands-on training for the community.

  • Hygiene

Water-related illnesses and death are often associated with sanitation and hygiene. Due to a lack of running water, people are often without hand-washing stations and other ways to prevent illness. We use simple ways to encourage and teach hand-washing without running water.

  • Support of Other Ideas

Indigenous solutions are the best because they involve local people, local materials, and local labor. Often, they are self-funded or nearly self-funded by the community. We are proud to support these, as well. This includes large water retention structures, covering wells, and other innovative projects.
