Stephanie Robinson,
Development Director
Stephanie was born and raised in the Eastern Shore of Alabama and attended the University of South Alabama for her undergraduate degree. She married her college sweetheart and then left home to learn more about mission and water/sanitation in Hawaii. She first arrived in Haiti in late-2010 and was reluctant to make long-term plans during her first few months there. However, she quickly fell in love with the people of Haiti and moved there with her husband soon after.
From 2010-2013, Steph worked in water and sanitation but also served at an orphanage. As she began to get involved with this orphanage, she learned the realities facing Haitian families living in poverty- they feel placing their child in an orphanage is the most loving way to meet their child’s needs. During this heart wrenching learning experience, a new desire to empower and prop up families in Haiti was born and one of the reasons Konbit Haiti was started— to keep families strong and together.
Stephanie holds her Master’s degree in International Community Development and studied the impacts of Haitian-led community development on families in crisis through Konbit Haiti. This made her even more passionate about her work, and works tirelessly to support and encourage people and families in Haiti. She and her husband live in Alabama when they are not traveling to and from the island.
