Ryan Robinson,
Executive Director
Ryan was born and raised in the USA, spending most of his childhood in Florida. He attended the University of South Alabama and majored in Business Management, a skill that has come in handy in his work in Haiti.
Ryan first stepped foot on Haitian soil on his 24th birthday. He was instantly enamored by Haiti’s beauty and overwhelmed by what he saw. He spent his first few years working in Haiti establishing a water ministry which focused on sustainable solutions and training locals. He managed an international team of 12-14 people for years, and saw the importance of national leadership for projects completed in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Innovative and curious, Ryan established new ways to do old projects on the island— using only local materials and involving local leaders in his process. He began to wonder how he could expand the reach of hard working Haitian and Dominican development practitioners, which is when the idea for Konbit Haiti was born.
Ryan and his wife, Stephanie, spent nearly a decade on the ground in Haiti and its neighbor, the Dominican Republic, before moving back to the USA. He recently received his Alabama Builder’s License, which has helped him immensely in his work in Haiti and beyond as he innovates safe ways to build new projects. Ryan is a natural leader, caring and kind. He now splits his time between the island and the USA. He enjoys being on or near the water, snowboarding, and spending time with his wife and friends.
